Hi there, I'm Amaya! You'll recognize me in the book with a pink dress and my hair styled in two pigtails. I like music and reading, but practicing ballet is definitely my favorite activity. My Mama says that practice makes perfect, and it's even better when you're perfecting something you love. I can't wait for you to read all about my ballet show and my true passion-- dancing!
Loves to Practice Ballet
I'm Emma, Amaya's next door neighbor. We go to the same school but are a grade apart. At school we try to play together at recess, but mainly we hang out after school and on the weekends. We like to play in the park right next to our houses, because the swings there are my favorite and Amaya loves the monkey bars. But sometimes she just enjoys practicing her ballet at the park. It's really awesome because you don't see a lot of kids dedicated enough to practice their ballet at the playground.
Amaya's Neighbor and Friend
Hi, I'm Amaya's mom Carolyn. I have two children: Amaya and Jude. Jude loves soccer, and Amaya is the only one in our house who takes dance class. I absolutely love watching Amaya practice and perform in her show, because she always puts a smile on my face! She practices a lot and is really dedicated to her craft.
Amaya's Mom
My name is Whiskers. I'm a three year old cat that loves being outside and playing with my family. I also enjoy playing with Amaya's toys when she leaves them on the floor in her bedroom. She's supposed to clean them up when she's done playing, but sometimes she forgets. I love my family and am so happy to be in this house.
Amaya's Cat
I'm Gabby, but my Mom calls me Baby Blue. I've always been a small bird so that's how I got my nickname. I'm always on the go, flying from park to park. You'll find me on the front of the book, and in the park when Amaya was practicing her ballet. When I was out looking for food, I came across her practicing some wonderful ballet moves. She was doing so great I flew around to watch for a few minutes.
Nickname: "Baby Blue"
My friends and family call me Mama Blue. I love all the neighborhood kids, and help out wherever I can. Sometimes they need to get more food or want an extra bird to play a game with and I'm here for them all. You can find me on the back page.
Matriarch of the Happy Blue Bird Family
I'm Spotty the ladybug. I'm a loyal friend that is a little slow to get around on the ground, but I am a good flyer. I love insects and crawling around on plants. My best friend is Speckles. She is fun and good at catching insects too.
Frequents Amaya's Yard
I don't like to be seen much, but I enjoy running through the neighborhood gathering nuts. My friends and I play tag and like to run pretty fast, but I have to be very careful of cars on the road and kids riding their bikes.
Lives in Amaya's Neighborhood
I'm a stuffed animal, or "stuffy" as Amaya likes to call me. Super fluffy and very cuddly, I'm usually found in Amaya's room-- but I did get to go to Amaya's school this year for show-and-tell. On the night of the ballet performance I was so excited for Amaya to come home so I could hear all about her night. I was so proud of her and her accomplishments!
Amaya's Favorite Stuffed Animal
My name is Melissa, and I've been dancing for 2 years. I love my ballet class and practicing with the girls. We take class once a week but I try and practice every night after I finish my homework. I also go to school with Amaya, so I get to see her every day.
In Amaya's Ballet Class
I'm Elizabeth, but I go by "Liz" for short. I've known Amaya since pre-school and am so glad we are in the same ballet class this year. We have so much fun dancing together. We practice really hard and encourage each other to be our best. When I'm older I want to become a professional ballerina.
Goes by "Liz"
Hello, I'm Anna. I've been dancing since I was 3 years old and have loved it ever since I started. I'm very quiet and focused when I practice my ballet. At school, mathematics is my favorite subject and I practice just as hard at school as I do in my ballet class.
